ROI
Mona Vale Golf Club (MVGC), nestled in the picturesque coastal setting of Mona Vale offers a premier 18-hole, par 72 championship course.
In an effort to continue to preserve the picturesque courses and lushes greens, the club has committed to sustainability by implementing eco-friendly initiatives such as water-efficient irrigation systems, habitat conservation and renewable energy solutions.
MVGC''s clubhouse was recently renovated with sustainability and conservation in mind.
Project Directive
At the outset of the project MVGC aimed to significantly reduce energy costs while decreasing the club's carbon footprint.
Through the transition to renewable energy, the club seeks to enhance its environmental stewardship and ensure long-term preservation of its stunning coastal surroundings.
The initiative supports both sustainability goals and operational efficiency, benefiting members, guests and the local community.
Execution
Due to high daytime energy usage to support its operation, MVGC faced the challenge of integrating solar without disrupting critical services. Scheduling power interruptions required meticulous planning to minimise interruptions to members and guests.
Determining the appropriate roof and system sizing was essential to ensuring optimal environmental and financial benefit. This has additional challenges due to the seasonal impacts on energy consumption within the club.
Roof orientations provided further challenges due to the southern facing half of the main club house. SEE recommended and installed the system over 2 buildings to capture the maximum northerly exposure increasing output for MVGC.
Board approval added an additional layer of complexity, requiring a detailed assessment of costs, benefits and alignment with the club's sustainability objectives.
Sustainable Journey
SEE remains dedicated to supporting MVGC's sustainability goals through a comprehensive partnership. SEE provides detailed board-level reporting on solar energy generation, offering transparency and measurable insights into its environmental impacts.
By regularly assessing the club's energy requirements, SEE Ensures the solar system continues to meet operational demands efficiently.
Beyond Solar, SEE remains the first point of call to assist MVGC with their broader sustainability initiatives, helping the club explore new eco-friendly practices.
This collaboration strengthens the club's environmental stewardship while enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability leadership.
